Default 1999 450 no spark

i have pulse going into the cdi box but no pulse coming out. Pulse is coming from pulse generator but nothing leaving I do have one hot wire going in from the kill switch. Pulse generator and gear indicator sensor have been replaced. The dash indicates that it is in reverse, first nuetral and fifth gear when in second third or fourth gear it is blank. Also, the nuetral light does not come on. I do not know where to go from here. Any help would be appreciated.

You must have a neutral light, or at least a circuit from the neutral switch to the CDI to get a decent spark. You usually can see a spark when you pull start in gear, but can't see one if you short the solenoid in gear, so Honda must have the CDI set to give an increased spark in neutral. It is the light green and red wire from switch unit to CDI, dash and starter solenoid that must be earthed in neutral.

For some weird reason, a faulty voltage regulator will kill the spark on a 450 Foreman. Only that model, so try another voltage reg if you can't get a spark with the neutral light fixed.

i have replaced the voltage regulator and got spark. still no nuetral light and no display of second, third or fourth gear The motor will start and run for 1 or 2 revolutions and then dies the spark stays strong while cranking. rep[aced carb and insulator, no change the lt green wire with red goes from cdi to solinoid I grounded it out but still do not get green light.

Check the green/red wire at the CDI plug, it should test out as earthed when in neutral. However if you are now getting a good spark, the problem with the neutral light may simply be a faulty digital dash. I would check compression next, as you have a new carb and a spark.

i got it The green wire was fine It seemed to be a timing issue after i replaced the regulator. The only thing to do was pull pulse generator again. I ordered another, that was original TEC brand It fired right up and runs like a champ. Thanks for you time and sharing your knowlegde with me. Merry Christmas

Glad you got it fixed, my guess is the fault was the regulator and you must have fitted a faulty new trigger coil when fault finding. One problem, at the moment, is some new electrical components are duds, so the substitution method of fault finding can result in more faults than you started with.
