Default Polaris Sportsman, no decomp.

Hi, I’m new here, was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this 98 Polaris Sportsman 500 I’m working on. Picked it up for 300 bucks not running, kid said it ran but would shut off. When I got it the recoil assembly was in pieces, and he had lost the flywheel nut and woodruff key, got those replaced, put recoil back together and on hooked battery to it and it’ll turn over but really slow, so I tried the pull start, and I can barely pull it. Was doing some reading and found out about the decomp in the cam, so I tore into the valve cover to check things out and I found a cam with no decomp mechanism in it, the little ball bearing that’s supposed to open the exhaust valve is not there. There’s not even a hole for one. Has any ever heard of this. Thanks in advance

Seems odd, have you looked at the micofiche? I thought if was a lil spring loaded lever, give a vavle a bump. I use Ronnies -microfiche.

It’s has none of that, I don’t know what it actually goes to, I just ordered the right one, hopefully I’ll be able to turn the motor over easily.
