Default 96 500 sportsman no start

I bought this as a project so I have no idea when the last time it ran or when/why it doesn't run. With that said here's where I'm at. I pulled and drained the tank flushed it. Cleaned the carb. Checked that the fuel pump is pumping. I have a strong blue spark. I checked that the flywheel didn't sheer the key. Checked the valve timing. It seems to have good compression. But it doesn't start. I gave it a few sniffs of either to see if it would even cackle and it doesn't so now I'm at the point where I don't know what else to do. Any ideas would be great.

What was the compression reading? Shouldn't be much because of the cam exhaust detent system. On average between 55 to 90 psi. Plus this was the first year(1996 to 2000) of soft cam problems and exhaust lobe wear. First thing I'd do is pull the cam cover and inspect valve clearance and for any exhaust lobe wear. Intake and exhaust .006 clearance. http://forums.atvconnection.com/pola...d-cam-pic.html

Since its a 96 I would check if the center exhaust cam lobe is worn out.
Here is one of many posts about it.

Cam is good. So now where do I start? Can the ignition timing be off on these?

I checked the valve timing again and it is good. When I rotate the motor by hand right after the power stroke I hear a clicking sound coming from the valve train. Not sure exactly what that is nor if it means anything. I put a new plug in it just out of desperation and still nothing. I'm not sure what to look at next.

Think a good pdf service manual would come in handy if you don't have one.Can explain a lot better than any of us guessing.http://gh-ftp.com/ORV%20Manuals/Pola...0All%20Models/

After finally finding my spark tester I found out it has spark when the plug is not in the cylinder. But under compression it doesn't have any spark. So now what? Thanks
