Ron wood stage #3 and 760 big bore kit owners I have questions!!!!
#1
Hi,
I narrowed down what I want for my Ds.Its between the Ron woods stg.#3 kit or the 760 big bore kit.I have a couple questions first such as:
1.Are they reliable?
2.Which one gains the most horse power and how much?
3.With the Ron Woods I heard that there rev box has no limiter and I don't want that,so would another rev box with an limiter like,Greydon work fine with the stg.3 kit or Do I just have to be careful when riding?
4.My goal is to beat modded banshees and give lt500s a run for their life. With either the RWstg.#3 or the 760 big bore kit will I be able to accomplish my goals?
5.Price isn't a problem for me but i was just wondering how much they both will cost!!!
Thanks your info will be greatly apprec.,
Dan

Let me try to answer your questions the best I can, in order.
1- I have been hammering my 760 2-4 days a week since presidents day weekend and have yet to do anything but routine maintainance. This also includes many dyno runs to sort out details. I've never gotten hot, or been sidelined for any engine related reasons. I can't see any difference in reliability from the stock motor.
2-Although I'm not ready to release final #'s because I've found a chassis problem that was holding me back just a little, I can descibe what I've found. When comparing my charts to the charts published in Dirt Wheels for the Ron Woods stage 3 motor, I can say that at no point does my HP or torque fall down to the stage 3 level. The 760 hits each and every power level[30hp,40hp,50hp,60hp,etc..]at least 1000 RPM earlyer than the Woods motor. Oh, wait, the Woods motor never saw 60HP, sorry. By the way, with the Team Pami 760 kit, you can upgrade the head to a large valve, race ported head similar to the stage 3 Woods offering for even more power. [I'm having a motor like that prepaired for a customer as we speak]
3-With the Team Pami kit, you have the option of a rev limiter or not.
4-If you look at my signiture at the bottom, you will see that I have a modified Banshee for compairison. It is not even a contest, the DS blows it away. Since you live here in Vegas, maybe I can demonstrate that for you some day. Once the Banshees start to get to 400+cc's, they can run near me. I haven't raced a good LT500 yet, but I just found out one of my neighbors has a couple of them.
5-I have to admitt that the 760 is a little more expencive than the Stage 3, but I think you get far more for your money. The basic kit sells for about $1000 more than the $4111.38 listed for the Stage 3. But if power is what you want, the 760 offers levels that the Woods motor can't reach, with off the shelf options that offer even more.
I hope that answered your questions from my point of view. I look forward to hearing from the Stage 3 owners.
Sorry about the length of the post!

Well Dan, you happen to be in luck. I am the current distributor for Team Pami products here in the U.S., so you and I can meet in person to conduct business. This will save money for shipping your motor as well.
The Team Pami rev boxs come with an 8500RPM limit, but are also available with 8200RPM and 8800RPM as well asa box without a limit.

I have the woods stage 2,and have raced alot of banshees.I seem to win most races against the stock units with aftermarket pipes and lose to one 's with more mod's.Raced one LT500 with fmf pipe and some other mods and won 3 out 3 races up sand mountain, the guy was kinda pissed said that he had never been beat by a DS before.I am still striving to be more competive with the modified banshees,so I am taking the plunge on Team-Pami 760 kit

I think that the ultimate DS would be a combination of the 760cc, full race prepped head, motor I'm building for Jeff and the intercooled, fuel injected, turbo that scooby has. Is anyone ready to take that plunge? I guess scooby it the only one that can right now since the man that built his won't do any more. I can dream though, can't I?
