Hi guys! I'm brand new atvconnection. A few months ago I purchased a 1994 Polaris 400l sport 2 x 4. As the old saying goes it seemed like a good deal at the time. Since then, I found out that the transmission case was cracked and the exhaust side of the Piston skirt was missing. as far as the transmission case, I have some friends who weld aluminum so that shouldn't be much of an issue. So here we go with the questions!
- the Piston lost the exhaust side skirt but there's no evidence of it in the crankcase. Is it safe to just rebuild top end? Crank spins smoothly. (This seems to be a hotly-contested question)
- it's my understanding that the counterbalance oil is 10w 30. My question is exactly how much counterbalance oil do I put in? Currently there's nothing showing on the dipstick.
-in the transmission case, what type of transmission oil is required? And how much transmission oil?
