Default 1999 Polaris Sportsman 335 ATV engine oil leak.

I have a 1999 Sportsman 335 with a engine oil leak on the right hand side of the ATV. There is a small hole maybe 1/8" in diameter and when the ATV is turned on it is blowing oil out this small hole. Looks like there should be a plug there but I don't see one. Any help would be appreciated.

Is this hole threaded?

No, the hole is not threaded. It looks like a weeping hole for a water pump but my ATV does not have a water pump. When the engine is running oil is blown out through this hole.

Any idea where this hole is in relation to the inside of the case?

The hole is behind the crank case cover below the recoil case. Under where the water pump would be if one was installed. You need to get under the ATV to see it.

If you cant find a reason for it, just tap the hole and put a screw in it. The aluminum housing should be easy to tap. Use a stainlees steel screw so it doesnt corrode in place. Just my two cents....

I took the cover off where the water pump would be if the ATV had one. There is a oil seal that came out of place. How big of a job is it to replace the seal.

The oil leak is in the location where a water pump would be if the ATV had one. There is a oil seal that came out of place. How big of a job is it to replace the seal.

You will need a Polaris expert for that.

Default I have the same issue but doesn't leak all the time.

Mine leaks after shutting off. It leaked about 5 ounces then stopped leaking. I drove it all weekend and it didn't leak too much after that.
Could it be an oil overflow?
I just changed the oil and put in 2 quarts. I did not drain the lower bowl of oil.
