Went to the dealer this morning......thought I was going to buy a new Sportsman. Two of the four Sportsman he had sittng on his showroom floor had small puddles of oil under them. Both were weeping oil from between the case halves of the oil reservoir. I heard the salesman go back and tell someone in the office about the problem and heard that someone say "another one?" with some disgust. Is this a chronic problem with the Sportsman? Needless to say, I lost my enthusiasm to buy the Polaris and left. Love the Polaris features, just nervous about the reliability aspect.

 

Hey sorry to here about the dealer. I can honostly say That i have never heard about the oil tank leak. And i have owned 5 Polarises with that setup .

 

Same here, I've never seen or heard of this.

 

Maybe the factory has just had a bad run of mis-matched cases recently(?).

 

I did not see any puddles with the Sportsmans on the dealer floor when I was looking for mine and have not seen any on my garage floor. As for reliability met a guy with a 1998 Sportsman, and he has 4500 miles on his and not a bit of trouble. Mine is new but so far (336 miles( it has gone great.

 

I would have to agree with xepathfinder. My dealer must have had 40 units on the showroom floor, no leaks on any of them. I bought 2 and neither have had any problems. I have 325 miles on mine, and my wife has 35 miles on hers. Going to have to find a place for her to ride..........
