Hello! I need to change all the oils on my Prairie. The engine oil is easy, but I am running into some struggles determining the correct oil for the Front Diff - and well actually, even the rear differential. The manual shows.....







The front case states "API GL-5 Hypoid Gear Oil for LSD" - and the rear says "API GL-5 Hypoid Gear Oil" - I bought some from Walmart

Which states that its API GL-5 and its also good for Limited Slip - so will that particular one work for BOTH the Front and Rear diff?

 

I have always used super-tech 75-140 full synthetic diff lube in all my machines including my 2000 Praire 300. Being a full syn means weight is not critical like dino oils are. Been using that stuff for more than 20 yrs with great results! Spend the extra and go with full synthetic!!

 

Would you use that in both the front and rear diffs? The same oil...?

 

Being a full synthetic lube the weight does not mean much. Synthetic lies dont get thin under heat and doesnt get thick when cold. Also has superior lubricating over dino oil. I checked with Kawasaki and my current mfgr for compatibility and recieved a thumbs up from both. Being a 75-140 rated lube it can be used where an 80/90 or 140 rated lube Is required
