1982 honda atc 200m died and won't start
#1
Was riding in yard w my son on his quad. One lap around house and it just puttered out and died on me.
Always starts on first pull. Never had this happen before.
Now I try to start it and it's got nothing.
Took the plug out and cleaned it. Looks good. Also had gas smell so I don't think it's a carb issue. Which has recently been cleaned anyways.
Bike has an electric start but when I hook up a battery it still doesn't work so I obviously have an electrical problem somewhere but haven't gotten to thst yet.
Just got this three wheeler about a month ago.
Please help

First find out if you have a spark or not, those 200cc engines never gave anything but a feeble white spark, but no spark and you have an ignition problem, if you do have a spark, it could be carb, too much or too little fuel, or compression. Still could be spark, I had one that would only start if the pickup coil was set to the bare minimum gap, though you could see a spark. Go through the stuff posted in the other thread you linked to. As written there, a rusty tank will let particles down into the carb, if it was cleaned last week, it doesn't mean it is clean now.
