A little background - I have been into sport quads since the late 90's, spent the 2000's racing quad harescrambles, the 2010's racing dirt bikes in the woods. Now, I've purchased the Scrambler to make into a decent woods machine that I can also use to do the occasional harescramble. I will be posting updates on what I do to the machine as I tear it down etc. I have learned much info from this site over the years, and I hope that somebody will learn something from what I am about to do with this project too. There isn't much info out there on these old machines any more...
The goals with this project are to make it more fun to ride, simplify, & faster but still tame enough to be reliable and easy to ride. I like that these old Scramblers are fairly narrow and light weight compared to the newer stuff.
This machine has a circuit board under the hood. I have never had one like that before, but it is making removing the items that I don't want easier, as each one unplugs.
So far I have removed the head and tail lights, ETC wiring, dash lights, and made a jumper to bypass the gear/override switch (to make 4x4 work off of the 4x4 button regardless of what gear it is in).
