So I've taken on a project for a customer who purchased a bit of a basket case!! He initially thought he had purchased an LT500R but soon realised he had a 500 motor in a 250. He's tasked me with the job of building him a one off quad that he can use as an all rounder, He's planning on road registering it and using it for a bit of fun on the roads but also planning on hitting a few tracks and trails.
Just currently doing my research on what you can get from them and I'm not short of options!! I won't be going ***** deep on the motor but definitely going to be dropping the cylinder on the flow bench and seeing where can be improved. Along with doing a few other engine mods/upgrades.
I have been told the motor is an '87 but is there any sure way to tell off of the engine number? As the chassis is a 250 it's pointless doing a chassis number check!
current status of the motor (see pic bellow)
I'll be updating this post as I go with plans/progress
