as the message reads i need a running engine for an lt230e electric start or kick for that matter just if anyone knows where to find one or if anyone has one that would be great

The 230e and 230s (kickstart) are slightly different. The motor mounts aren't similar enough to not need modification. It would be much easier to use the motor the bike came with. Also the motor mounting changed from 85-86 style to the 87-up, so you will also want the same style. These motors are NOT cheap to find. It is almost always cheaper to have the motor you have rebuilt. Then you know that you aren't wasting $250+ to be in the same boat in a few months.

i found a running 89 lt230e engine will fit my 87 and it is for 113.50$ 5hrs left . the only downfall is that it is around 100 $ crated shipping by ups, but hey oh well . i guess ya gotta pay if ya wanna play? the motor only has 10 hours on it and it look visibley new condition

A wire brush and some AJAX will do wonders to a motor. If it only has 10 hours on it I'd like to see proof before purchasing. I thnk the motor mounts are identical on those years.

the 230's engine i have has a bad piston connecting rod bearing and the two washers on both sides of the con rod. i think the rings are good but you might want to replace them.
BTW i bought a engine that runs for 160$ and am happy bout that

Since that motor had been sitting for two years, make sure to pour some oil into the spark plug hole to avoid having a dry start in a cylinder that most likely has a little rust scale. I'd pour at least 2 teaspoons in the plug hole and turn the motor over with the decompression lever, and the pull starter. After refilling with oil, of course. I'd adjust/inspect the valves while the motor is out and easy. I can get the specs from my manual if you need them.
