Was running, turned off and nothing
#1
Good day, i have a 125 Tao Tao that was running. Last night i started it up as i do every week and took it for a 5 min ride around. When i pulled up to my house, my wife called my name so i turned the machine off by the key. When i finished with my wife i turned the key to start it and nothing. Not turning over absolutely dead noise. The unit was in neutral, kill switch off and my hand and foot on both brakes. The lights work and the green light and red light work for neutral and reverse. Checked the fuse and it is good as well. I am assuming it is the turn key switch or maybe the kill switch. Any recommendations how i can test the turn key or kill switch. Thank you in advance. As an fyi i have tried doing research but have yet to find the same problem

Unlikely to be kill or ignition switch. On cheap bikes, and a lot of expensive ones, the starter circuit is completely separate from the kill circuit. So find out why the starter isn't working. If it was the starter motor, the solenoid would still click when you press the start button, is it? If not, it could be a faulty solenoid so check if you get power to the thin wires to solenoid when you pres the start button (with ignition on), if you do get power and solenoid doesn't click, faulty solenoid. If you don't, one thin wire should be negative with brake on and in neutral, the other should be positive when you press start button. One wire will be faulty, trace it back to find the fault.
Note, some makers do not use this positive starter button system and negative lock-outs, but I think Tao Tao do.
