i have a 95 400 sportsman an the trans is very loud and there is meatl shaving on the drain plg i replaced the chain in it but did not help. the atv only has 1300 miles on it
i have changed the oil about 5 time in it
my buddy has one and mine is 2 times louder then his

I dont know why it would be noisy unless it is low on oil but the shavings are normal. I have serviced several of my friend Polaris's and they all have the same metal shavings on the plug.It is all a part of normal wear, that is why the end of the plug is a magnet. My 400 Xplorer has it too and I have never had a lick of trouble out of it.

Those transmissions are typically noisy. I
wouldnt worry about it unless the shavings turn in to chunks.
