Default 93 Polaris 350L Armature Plate Question

Have this old 1993 350L 4x4 I picked up for use out at the lake....and pretty much all I've been doing is fixing it since I bought it...and this was 2 years ago But onto the latest problem. Re-did all the front bearings and seals and am putting it back together and I'm pretty sure the armature plate is suppose to be snug with the clutch, with no movement, but it's not. It's almost as if the bearing in the strut isn't in far enough which is preventing the clutch from going all the way in. And this is on both sides, the race is bottomed out and bearing in as far as it will go.

Will show some pictures as well....it's only about 1mm or so but doesn't feel like it should be loose at all. Anyone know why this would be and how to fix it ? Honestly I don't really care about 4x4 since this thing would just be used to run to neighbors and the store and back.....but I don't want to mess anything up by putting it back together wrong either and having things rattle around in there. Thanks in advance!

First pic is with the clutch snug against the armature plate, but as you can see there is some wiggle room between the clutch and the bearing.

Second pic is if the clutch slides back to the bearing, then there is the gap between the armature plate and the clutch.
