Hello all !
ok hi again everyone I need some help...
I got my son's LT 80 about 7 years ago..
Had a bad crank seal was dry and fell off...
Put a new one in and shaved head .30
removed 2 rollers.
Fast forward to now...
about 5 years later quad has only been ridden a hand full of times...
Had some free time a was finishing some mods, cut rear shoes to 180 grams, Ported Reed cage and put in boysen reeds,, and dropped main jet to a 90..
Then I saw oil leaking out of the hole on the stator side..
Took it all apart and the new seal had came out ?? Just sitting there??
what pushed it out ?? Bad rings ??
Did a compresson check and at 55 ish ??
I read some where Jack Moore Said 90 min. Is what you need...
The weird thing is the thing runs really well ??
Do I need a top end??
Jack are you out there ??
Can we talk about stage 2 and be done with it ??
I was hoping Jack would come in on this. "The boss" has just bought an LTA50 with engine in bits. It had lost compression and previous owner had stripped the motor and then lost interest. I found piston & rings were fine but crank seal had popped, much like yours. centre punch marks round the outside of the seal housing would indicate it had done this before. I too am wondering why. New seal was very tight going in.
OMG...
Re connect the ground !!!
Yeah... I had ground off on the top right screw of the stator cover.
Now I get full juice to starter... 120+ for compression...
Still doesn't answer the seal falling out question....
Thanks and hope this helps someone...
