Default Suzuki won't run right

I'm helping my neighbor to try to get a Suzuki quadsport 50 running. Not sure of year, but probably around 2005. Clean tank. Replaced petcock, fuel lines, carburetor and spark plug. Started up and ran, but seemed like it starved for fuel when throttled up. Found a thread online about a seal on the crank coming loose and causing loss of vacuum. Checked that. Nope. Soaked original carb in cleaner for 2 days and reassembled. Same result. Ran a remote tank and line directly to carb. Same result. I'm thinking it can't be fuel related. Any other ideas?

I assume we are talking of the 2 stroke? If so, I would check the exhaust, both silencer and the port. Had one that seemed "coked up" but silencer seemed OK. Our local Yam dealer told me that they coke up in the port. Checked and there was a curtain of carbon right next to the piston with a small hole in it.

I'd check the compression.

Compression is 85 psi. Would that cause the loss of power when throttling? Will try to check the exhaust tomorrow.

Comp should be 90 minimum, 85 isn't far off, but yes, it can make it bog on throttle
