Default Help picking a quad, first time buyer

Hello! I am wanting to get a quad so I can go riding with friends. I have a Honda fl250 but really need a quad to keep up with my friends in the trails. I have been looking att he 250ex, 250x, and 300ex, and cant seem to find which one would be the best option, given I have a somewhat limited budget, and have no interest in getting a larger model because I have never driven one before. Not worried about learning a manual clutch or anything either. I have seen in some posts that the 300ex is small, and as a 6'2" guy weighing 225lb I don't know if it would be too small, and if a 250ex/x would be larger. I won't be racing or anything, mostly just trail riding, some field driving, and maybe mild jumping. 300ex also seem much more available in my area for less than the 250s, and so I have been leaning towards a 300, just concerned about size, reliability, and having some fun. Any thoughts? Thanks

If you are looking at a 2 wheel drive sport quad, I think the 250 is enough. rode a 250ex a bunch.. I am about your size and was shocked at how much power they had compared to a 4x4 model of the same size.

A lot will have to do with health of the engine of course. But a 250 should be able to hang with a 300 very well.

We usually ride 4x4 atvs, a 700 and a 400. The 400 hangs with the 700 very well until above about 30mph. A lot has to do with traction/tires and power to weight ratio.
