I’ve got a 2006 Honda rubicon 500. Started out all dash lights would light up after riding about 20-30 minutes. Now when this happens it seems to go into limp mode. Was able to turn off then back on and everything was fine but now once I turn it off it will not cranks unless it cools off a few hours. Just noticed this weekend that the fan isn’t turning on. Seems like all this started after I put a new carburetor on it. Anyone got any ideas where to start? Thanks for the help.

 

If it goes into limp mode there should be a fault code flashing on the display, probably the D for drive turning into a -- which flashes Morse code numbers to indicate the fault. Check the fan fuse and the temp sender to ensure the fan works, if it doesn't boil, it may simply not be getting hot enough to switch the fan on before the fault comes on.

Please don't use the term "cranks" it literally means wont turn, i.e. seized, or at least starter doesn't spin it over, some use it to mean this, some use it to indicate it won't run, a totally different fault.
