I was on my way to replaceing the front boot on my '96 sp500 and when i got both shafts clean, i then sliped the 2 shafts together and i CAN NOT get them apart now. I still have to grease it and put the new boot on. They are suppose to pull right apart but its not workin. Anyone has any advice, i am in desperate help.

Are you talking about the cv joint and the half shaft? If so then make sure you have them straight and use a rubber mallet and tap it until it comes out. There is a small ring that goes around the end of the shaft to keep the cv joint from popping off of the shaft. Be gentle with it because you don't want to chew up any of the teeth on the spine. Good luck.

I agree with MGM.

The additional difficulty you are having has to do with the fact that there is now no lube in there to help you out.

Can you pour a bit of oil in there to provide some lube? Drown it with WD-40? Anything to provide the little assistance you need.

Good Luck,

DJ
