What is the best mods that can be put on a honda 250ex? I know that its not a real power house. But thats what I have and I want to modify it. Can I put a better cam in it? I know a exhuast and jet kit would help. Does the k&n air filters realy make a big difference? Any help I would appreciate it.

i would say rear tires. I think they really help on a 4 stroke.

Besides the exhaust I'd get a UNI air filter. I personaly dont trust paper but thats just my opinion. Also if you dont ride in very much mud or water cut some 1" diamater holes in the air box lid for increased air flow. You'll get better throtle response that way and some more power. I'd get larger rear tires if you want more speed but if you want more acceleration get smaller ones. A cam wouldn't be a bad idea as well. Good luck!

Yes, the easiest thing you can do to make it quicker is go to 20" tires in the rear. I put the stock tires from my 400EX on my Son's 250EX and it made a BIG difference.

The bike tends to "push" a bit in turns. I could deal with it ok, but this is my daughters bike so the first thing we did was change the tires. I started with Holeshot 21" front and 20" rears. This made the bike very nimble and improved the pushing, but didn't eliminate the problem entirely. I settled on Holeshot 22" front and rear because this gave the best improvement. I put the tires on (wider than stock) ITP T-9 rims, which widened the rear end several inches and helped make the bike more stable in turns.

As far as performance mods, we drilled the airbox and installed air box vents. I may eventually put on an FMF MegaMaxII pipe (not available yet) and a K&N filter. I made these mods to a Recon and it made a BIG difference.

One bit of advice though-this bike has MINIMALIST SUSPENSION! I wouldn't spend a lot of money on performance mods because the suspension just can't handle it. If you want more performance, step up to a performance bike that has real suspension!!
