What years did the Sport 400 come with Concentric drive?
#1
I saw a Sport 400 at a dealer for sale last night I was tired so I only drove in and gave it a quick look. did notice it had concentric drive on the side of it. It was in great shape. I sat on a Scrambler 500 2x4 earlier in the day and damn! that seems very cushy. I am looking for a good machine for my girlfreind she liked the way the Scrambler felt, it did not feel to big to her so I know what to get her now, I thought long about trail blazers and the Mag 325 but We ride with xpress 400's Xplorer 400's Mag 425's machines like that and she wants to be able to keep up.Told her she gets a Sport 400 she will beat us all.

It'll be a '98 or '99 model, in 2000 they all took the Scrambler name.
Either year are the best of the Sport named quads. If you get it for your girlfriend be careful, she may be roosting past you and showing you tail lights !!!
Things to look for:
Loose lower steering bushing
Loose tie rod ends
Stretched and broken chains - look for one than one masterlink
Worn brakes - Ask the dealer to pull the front wheels and check the pads and rotors. If the dealer wants to sell it and make you a happy customer, he'll let you look it over in detail.
Any fluid leakage or areas that look "too clean"
Look inside the fuel tank for visible debris.
And finaly test ride it. I hate to say it but, when you ride with helmet on, you may not hear softer mechanical noises, or have someone listen to it as you ride it.
