I own a 2001 scrambler 400 that i have had approximately 5.5 months. I have had to have 2 transmissions replaced within 3 weeks of each other. The last time it was in the shop they replaced the swingarm, transmission and all bolt etc. Has anyone else had this problem? It is still under warranty until the end of june. however i am looking for another bike like a raptor, ds 650, 400ex, or banshee.

I've had my Sport just over two years. Other than tie rod ends, I haven't had a single problem with it. I am looking for another sport quad, but will never sell my Polaris.

My 01 Scrambler 400 is in the shop again. 3 trannys in 3 months, and I've only owned it for 3 months. The last tranny was sent from the Polaris factory completely built, all they had to do was slap it in. Two rides later its leaking. Polaris said I'm the only one with leaking problems. Now I'm getting the runaround from the dealer on how to fix this problem. If I don't get some answers this week I'll have to visit my lawyer.

Yeah, I HAD a '96 Scrambler and COULD NOT keep it together. When it ran, it was unstoppable, you couldn't touch it, but it was a piece of crap right off the showroom floor. The taillight would fall out and swing from its wiring. The seat latch broke, the headlight bulbs would dislodge themselves and roll around inside the globe, the starter went out on me about 5 miles from home. I pulled the rope and guess what? The rope pulled out and stayed there. Once I got home, I had the starter fixed only to have it go out again a week later. Finally fixed it using Honda parts, believe it or not. When I would run down the road at high speed, it would just quit, gas would start running out of those vent hoses that seem to run everywhere. Then the oil injection went out; I found out about this a little later when the motor seized pushing the rod through the piston. All in all I think it was a piece of sh#t and was glad to not have it anymore. It still remains to be the only machine I have ever owned, and I can't tell you how many that has been, to blow a motor. Also, it was the only wheeler I have ever had where another rider would pull up and hand me my seat! If you think these problems you are having now are going to just "go away" as the machine gets older, then don't listen to me. Get rid of it if you still can. I know a lot of people who'll stand behind their Polarises, but not me. On every major ride I've ever been on, I've always noticed one thing. There always seems to be a broken Polaris. This last ride at Belle Cote, I saw two.

BACK 10 YEARS AGO I SWORE I WOULD NEVER OWN A POLARIS, NOW I HAVE ONE AND SO DOES MIY SIS,MOM, AND DAD. HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH ANY OF THEM. I MODDED MY SISTERS 2000 400 SCRAMBLE TO THE MAX AND IT HAS 55 HORSES AND I HAVE HAD NO TROUBLE FROM IT IN THE YEAR THAT WE HAVE HAD IT. ALL BRANDS HAVE THERE LEMONS AND WITH POLARIS SELLING MORE UNITS THAN MOST THERE PROBS TO KAPITA WILL BE HIGHER. THE OTHER KEY IS MAINTANCE. I HAVE 2 ZILLA'S AND FOR ALL THE PEOPLE WHO SAY THEY BLOWN HEAD GASKETS AND THIS BREAKS AND THAT BREAK I SAY MAINTANCE. MOST OF THE GUYS WHO COMPLAIN ABOUT SOMETHING THEY HAVE HAD USUALLY NEVER DO ANYTHING BUT RIDE IT WITH OUT TAKING CARE OF IT. AS FOR YOUR PROBLEM TRY TAKING IT TO ANOTHER DEALER, MAYBE YOUR DEALER HAS A BUNCH OF CHIMPS IN HIS SERVICE DEPARTMENT. IF ALL ELSE FAILS CONTACT POLARIS DIRECTLY AND TELL THEM YOU WANT A NEW UNIT. CALL THEM 10 TIMES A DAY EVERYDAY UNTIL YOU GET WHAT YOU WANT. ALL YOU HAVE TO LOSE IS A FEW MINUTES OF YOUR TIME.

Last ride I went on (400 bikes) there were 4 Hospital cases including 1 Heli-lift, 2 were from Raptor riders (there were 7 Raptors there in total), The other was an old Suzuki with no rear suspension, and the other was a trail bike rider who slid off the track. No Polarises broke down, crashed, rolled, flipped (or in my case, got passed).

Interesting that the high, short and narrow bike with lots of grunt (Rapture) casued the most problems!
