Found one in great shape at a dealer in town, it books according to KBB.comfor 3650. He sounded like the price could be negotiated. it is a non Polaris dealer which works to my advantage. would i be insulting to offer 3200? and go from there?

The local Polaris dealer was selling 2001 Scrambler 400's for around $4,300. I would think $3,500 is a little high for a 2 year old machine. I would check out some of the Polaris dealers and see what a new one would cost and go from there.

A riding buddy of mine bought a 98 Sport at a dealer last year for $3100. It was in decnt shape. I said decent, not great. I'd have no problem offering him $3100 CASH, and go from there. You might find a better deal in a Cycle Trader magazine.

I recently paid 3250 for a '99 scrambler 400, but it is a 4x4. I think I got a decent deal. 3500 is a little high for a '99. My local Polaris dealer had a '00 scrambler for 4000 right when the first '01 came out, even a little before that. No way would offering 3200 be embarissing. That would be a fair price for that machine.
