98 lakota vs 2001 300ex
#1
Who would win a 98 lakota or a 2001 300ex stock for stock,in a drag race. Also who would win a 98 lakota with a dg pipe or 2001 300ex with a supertrapp pipe. We both have about that same riding experiance.
My friend thinks his lakota goes 75 with a dg pipe.

The Lakota is a fine machine, but the 300EX will beat it performance wise in every catagory.
The EX is lighter, has a 4 valve head(Lakota 2 valve head), carb with an accelerator pump, and a better intake/airbox design. This all translates into more power and faster acceleration.
Piped or not, a Lakota will not keep up to a stock 300EX.

You are quite wrong stating the Lakota will not keep up with a 300ex. I know for a fact it will. I know of piped Lakotas that will out run piped 300ex's and of course vice-versa. However the Lakota will not run 75 mph, even w/350 stroker I doubt would get to that speed. The 300ex is geared more toward sport than the Lakota however, but for versatility I think the Lakota is the way to go. Off the sub. but does anyone know what kind of towing capacity the 300ex is capable of?

One of my friends had a Kawasaki Lakota for several years. He is a die-hard Kawasaki fan. His wife used to have a Yamaha Blaster. Two years ago, they sold her Blaster and bought her a new 300EX. The stock EX would run circles around the Lakota everywhere. It would out accelerate, out handle, out jump, and flat out run away from a Lakota on top end. Thinking that something maybe wrong with his machine, we tore it apart. We inspected everything and even touched up the jetting for optimuim preformance. The EX still ran circles around the Lakota. Then instead of installing a noisy pipe on the Lakota to boost performance. He went out a bought a 400EX. Neither my friend or his wife could be happier with thier quiet, stock machines.
Stock for Stock, the EX will beat up on a Lakota period. I know, I'm an "A" level racer. And I couldn't keep up with my buddies wife on her EX with his Lakota. It is just to under-powered.
Small carb, 2 valve head, extremely restictive air intake, etc, etc. It's a utility based quad.
It had other nice features like a backup pull start and easy reverse procedure(unlike the EX).

For one thing, a DG Exhaust is about as low as they go. They offer one thing though, loudness. Thats nothing to be bragging about. The Supertrapp on the other hand, is close to the top of the list of best exhaust pipes. The DG Lakota VS. The Supertrapp 300ex is a simple victory for the 300ex. The DG Lakota vs. the Stock 300ex is a close battle, but in my opinion the 300ex will still win. For one thing, the 300ex will get off the line much quicker. Lakota Sport or Regular Lakota it doesn't matter. The only close race race for a 300ex in its size class is the blaster and warrior...which those races can go either way. But a Lakota vs. 300ex, its always going to be the 300ex. The ride could go in reverse and kill the lakota..not really..but the 300ex is a lot faster than some people think it is. A stock 400ex won't smoke the 300ex..but yes...it will beat it. I've actually raced a 400ex vs. my 300ex when I only had a White Brothers exhaust, and I stayed right beside of him.

the 300ex definintly does NOT beat the lakota in EVERY catagory. the lakota has alot more bottom end power. it seems slower when riding it because there is no "hit" to the powerband, which just means it is running on the power band all the time. the quality of it isnt an issue at all. its a great trail bike, better for trails than the ex, because of the power in the bottom end that it generates. for trails and climbing its one of the best in its catagory...i prefer it over everything else. mostly becasue where i live the trails are mild but with need of reverse and there are alot of mud and rocks.
