Email message to Polaris about Lower Steering Stem Bushing
#1
I was in a weird mood today, so I decided to email Polaris the following message:
"Can you please email me the mailing address of Polaris Industries so that I can return to you the plastic lower steering stem bushing from my wifes 2000 trailboss. After less than one year of light trail riding, the steering had over an inch of play from side to side and up and down. My dealer said that this is normal. I am sorry, this is not normal or safe! I replaced the bushing myself with an aftermarket aluminum one from HPD. There is no play in the steering now. Since this cost me $35 and 1 hour of my time, I think it would be appropriate that I return the plastic model to Polaris so that you can give it to the engineer who designed it. Since my 98 Magnum does not have this plastic steering stem bushing and I see that the 2001 models have a much better designed bearing type bushing, I will assume you know that this was not one of your best ideas. Don't worry, I will pay the postage. While I'm at it, I will also return the one I took out of my buddies early release 2001 Scrambler 500. He was really impressed with the quality of your steering components also!"
I will post a reply if they respond back. I am guessing they will not. In which case, I may send the old crappy part back anyway
