If you want to make it go a little faster you could put some taller tires on it although you will lose a little bit in acceleration. Go for the pipe but put a K & N Power Kit along with it and that will help a little. I hate to say this but there is not very many ways to make a Recon go faster than stock.

P.S. I believe you only have two choices for a pipe or just two that I know of. The FMF Mega Max II and a Suppertrap. I would go with the FMF cause it gives more HP. Although I have a faint memory of a DG utility pipe in the 2000 Dennis Kirk catalog. I wish there were more chices but there might be a few on the way with the 250 EX.

See my post "Air Intake on Recon and 250EX". FMF MegaMax II Pipe, K&N Filter with Outerwears, and cut off the end of the air intake. These mods really perked up the little bike!!
