Would the DS be too much for my wife?
#1
I am selling my modded Scrambler400 to get something lighter and sportier for my wife. She is 5'4" and weighs about 115 lbs. Kind of on the small side. She finds the Scrambler too heavy and bulky but enjoys riding my Raptor. The only thing that worries me about the DS is the size and weight...
Fourlix...I know you have both and your son rides the Raptor, But does he like the DS?
Thanks!

If your wife likes your Raptor so much, then give her your Raptor and get the DS650 for yourself. At 5'4 115 pounds the DS650 would be a tall order, but not impossible.

Get her something with reverse (i.e. Raptor) or a smaller one like a 400ex. The day she attempts to get a DS unstuck by herself will be 1 day before it has a for sale sign on it. Not to say your wife is weak, but I'm 6-6 and 250 and digging my DS out of 2 ft. of sand is no easy task.

Skyler does not like the DS at all. It is way too big for him. He says it is too tall, too heavy and he can't "muscle it around" like he can the Raptor. Plus the Raptor is much easier for him to jump and control in the air. I prefer the DS, and think they are both great quads. You know, the new Raptor has better gear spacing and a trick new piggyback rear shock. IDEA!! Give her your Raptor and get a new one for yourself!!
The DS is the best sport quad for big guys, anybody over 6 feet is just simply more comfortable. A Raptor can work for a big guy, but a big guy on a Raptor needs the big A-arms, axle and swing arm even more than a smaller person. A smaller rider doesn't NEED the wider a-arms on a Raptor, but I think every Raptor should get the wider rear axle, unless they gotta ride between trees.
I don't really think the DS sounds like the right quad for your wife,
and a Raptor is such a great all-around quad. Just stick a wider axle on it and go. And Reverse. Don't forget reverse!!
For all the BIG BAD RAPTOR B.S. it has been a really great quad.
Yeah it will go fast, but it has a wide usable powerband, great handling and decent suspension. So what's wrong with having two Raptors?? Remember, the Black and White ones are faster....

If we were to get a new raptor...I would want it and my wife would not dare let me get the "new" one for myself. She is already pi$$ed at me for modding the Scrambler so much and blames me for the problems. Next new quad is hers...and if it is a 2002 Raptor, I will be jealous! hehe...

Get a new 2002 Black & White Raptor. Tell her its hers. Then as soon as it gets a little dirty, Switch Plastic!! She won't know the difference, do it before she gets used to it, hell take yours in for service at the same time and have the dealer do it. It will look brand new with the new plastic on it!! Win-Win!!
