lakota sport or 250ex?

hey all i want to buy a new quad and i was wondering which would be better to buy, a 250ex or lakota sport. I love to go fast and race around. Which one is the fastest and most responsive, and therfore the one i should buy.

The Lakota is a little faster on the top and they are probably real close in acceleration. Handling should be fairly comparable also. Which one do you think looks better? Have you at least sat on both of them to see which one feels better to you? I would even try to test ride both of them. Even if it's only in a parking lot it can help. As of right now the Lakota is probabably the easier to modify. You can change sprokets on it, you can't on the 250 EX. But the 250 is about $300 cheaper so you have to consider that too. I would just make these comparisons and decide wich one is best for me.

actually juggalo the lakota sport goes about 2 miles an hr faster than a 250ex and i have a lakota sport and smoke i mean smoke the 250ex in acceleration. so get your facts straight. The lakota sport is way easier to modify i just put a K&n filter on and my supertrapp exhaust is on its way. Listen my friend had a lakota sport before me and i bought one because i liked my fiends so much then my other friend bought one because he liked it so much. I jump my lakota sport on my mx track with a double 35 ft and a table at 40 ft this thing lands way better than a 250ex. Buy the way with my K&n filter i can now beat a 300ex of the line. Buy a lakota sport the rest of these people don"t have either i have one and my friend has the other. Thanks let me now what you get.

i am redd888's friend. and You should really buy the lakota. What do you think is faster? Chain driven or Shaft driven? I have a DG pipe on my lakota and raced redd888's brother. He has a warrior. and i beat him. There is no way you can compare a 250 to a 300. I don't know why people say the 250 is faster. Are they dumb. it is 50cc's less than the lakota. I am 15 years old and i wouldn't buy any other quad.

In both shootout's (Dirt Wheels and ATV Action) they say that the 250EX is quicker at accelerating. Dirt Wheels says that the Lakota is faster on top, but is a slow revver. And ATV Action never actually went for top speed they just did 100 yard drag races along with 50 yard drag races. And everytime the 250EX won. As far as the Lakota Sport is easier to modify, I would have to disagree. The Lakota has the same bad airbox as the Mojave. Which doesn't allow someone to modify it to much. Yes the Lakota does have sprockets. But that doesn't always make it better. A shaft drive is a more reliable. Also the Lakota is quite a bit heavier than the 250EX. Red888, maybe your friend with the 250EX just doesn't know how to ride very well. And Red888's friend. The Lakota may have 50cc more, but it is a slower revver and also a lot heavier.

I owned a lakota and i have ridden a 250ex. Overall i prefered the lakota. The 250 has more snap off the bottom, but hits the revlimiter quickly. The handlebars vibrated badly. No adjustments on the shocks, drum brakes in the back.
Lakota-slow revving, heavy, not alot of top end. Change the cam, add a k@n, jet it , install new muffler, major improvement. Can't improve the 250 for less money.
Plan on leaving them stock and ride trails only i might go with the 250 ex if i fit better on it than the lakota.
