I was wondering why the axle boots for the prairie 650 are a discontinued part. I was under the impression that they were a backordered part from kawasaki but my dealer now tells me they can't be had period.
I can only assume that kawasaki thought there was a problem with them possibly holding in mud and causing problems.
I was also wondering what they have sealing the axle now because there is no visible seal like there was on my 400 prairie. Is it an o-ring or some sort of concealed seal and is it up to the task?

The boots are shown in the microfiche, but it does say they are discontinued. But there is still a seal protecting the bearing. I would guess they discontinued the dust seals because dirt and grit would get caught in the seal and cause excessive wear.

My dealer was told by his rep that the boots were holding the water in, rather than keeping it out, so they decided not to put them on the production units.
