I have a good friend who is in the market for a 4wd atv. He has never owned or drove an atv before but will be very capable of doing so. He is missing his right arm. I told him I would help him find the right atv for him.

Our requirements:
1. Automatic Transmission (engine braking would be nice)
2. 4wd
3. Independent rear suspension would be a plus
4. full floorboards
5. A single brake lever that controls both front and rear
brakes. (MUST)
6. The throttle lever MUST be able to be relocated over to the
left side. If this cannot be done on a Kawasaki model
then we will have to look at other brands.

I would say the model that most closely fits our needs is the Kawasaki Prairie 400 4X4. Would it be feasible to switch the throttle over to the left side? And, what is the brake setup on a Kawasaki atv. i.e. does one brake lever on the left side control front and rear braking? All input is much appreciated.

If your not completly set on a kawi look at polaris. They have everything u'r looking for but you'll still need to switch the throttle over.

I think you should take a look at the Polaris 'cause the shifter on the Kaws are on the right handside. The Yamaha Kodiak may also be worth checking out.

I also think he should try out a Polaris. I know a guy that is missing his LEFT arm and he rides an 01 Banshee. He switched the clutch and brake levers, and he is FAST! I am sure that you can change the side of the gas lever, but, you would also have to move the light buttons and stuff farther down the bars. I think that Polaris would be good, since the brakes are on the left hand!

On the shifter thing, I usually shift into forward gears with my knee, but he could use the left arm for gear changes.

You have a Polaris... You should've thought bout it
