I have just installed an EGT gauge on my modded 400 Scrambler 4x4, and would not have a clue as to what the correct tempature should be. I have heard that the max should be under 1250, but what is the optimum running tempature?

Can anyone help me please?

1250: maximum power temperature at WOT
1300: meltdown

1000: midrange (1/2 throttle)

800-900: 1/4 throttle

Thats what I have been lead to believe...

Any idea of when peak HP is reached - RPM v EGT?

Take alook at the back of the HPD catalog at the dyno graphs, if you built your bike with hpd stuff you can compare what you have to the graphs and see at what rpm you are achieving max hp if you are jetted and clutched correctly.

Ronnnn

Most everything is HPD, but still having trouble finding the correct jettings for the 39PWK card, hence the EGT & RPM Gauge. I did not like the needle that the card came with from HPD, felt a bit lean, so went to a EEG on the middle setting. Feels a bit rich top and bottom now, but feel and actual can be very different! Don't want to another top end rebuild!
