I am looking to put new shocks on the Scram. I was just wondering if anyone had Works or Fox shocks on one. And if so which is better.
Thanks

I have the Works struts & recommend them over Fox according to people who tried both,(Mike?). You can adjust the air pressure on the Works from 20 to 50psi & cant on the Fox plus they are valved superior to the Fox. They come at 30psi w/ about 2" sag when seated. The wheel travel is also increased. It must take a very low volume of air because just by checking it w/ a tire gauge uses about 5 psi. I'm bumping the pressure up to 45psi since I've been running at the MX tracks mostly. I did have one strut blow out but it was my fault. I fell over 6" vertically & cased out big time but since it's rebuildable I just sent it back.

Have to agree with Jim. I don't have the works units, but I know they put out a great product. I run the Fox's all around, with the Hot Seat dual rate springs up front. These springs, on the softest setting, have been one of the best suspension mods. I'm getting ready to send my rear shock into PEP for their mod...I've heard that runs around $300. If you already have the Fox units up front, I would try the dual rate springs first before changing the struts. I think you'll like it.

Ohio Scrambler,

I've tried both and the Works are clearly superior. Works have progressive dampening. The Fox has straight rate dampening. This means that as the travel is used up in the suspension, the stiffer the dampening gets. Fox is a straight rate, which means is is stiff throughout it's travel. Don't get me wrong, Fox struts are really good, but the Works are about a generation ahead. Plus for the same price, you get an extra inch or so of travel with the Works. The Hot Seat dual rate spring kit would be a good investment if you buy the Fox. It will give you some progressive feel for the suspension. I have both the Hot Seat springs and the Works struts. This is probably not the "hot set up" for MX, but is perfect for trail riding and XC. It allows you to run a lot of sack in the front suspension and it gets rid of the "top heavy" feeling in turns while still allowing full travel for the big stuff.

Hope this helps!
