Do not use Car Oil! I used Mobil 0 and now I have clutch problems. I'm now using Golden Spectro Full-Sync 4-Stroke oil. This is made for wet clutches and high powered engines. I've heard alot of people running Klotz, Honda Oil and Bombardier even makes sync oil for the bomb. I would stay away from anything that's for you car. Don't make the same mistake I did.

I can say that on a car engine you don't wnat to use a synthetic for brake in you need to develop a wear pattern ring and other internal components will not seat correctly. I suject use the factory oil for 10hrs, and so chose your own way to break it in. It seems that anybody you talk to has a different method I just rode mine tried to very the rpms and didn't go flat out for to long I use Torco 10w-40 works great for me the trans shifts well I think that most DS owner will opt for motor mods before most internal engine parts are worn out.

Don't use car oil, it doesn't have the "ingredients" for a wet clutch.
I use Klotz 10-40W Techniplate synthetic. This is what my dealer suggested. In the manual it said not to use synthetic. I e-mailed Klotz & asked what they thought. They said they had tested that very oil in DS's & it worked great. So far, so good.

If you guys change your oil often why would you even waste the money on synthetic. I have a streetbike background also and Honda sent a bulletin out
a couple years ago about not using synthetic in sportbikes because of clutch slippage issues. The reason I know this is because my 99 900RR's clutch was slipping and it was because I was using HP4,Hondas synthetic. I went back to
the regular Honda oil and haven't had a problem since. IMO In a car or dry clutch system I think synthetic is the best, but for wet clutches I will never use synthetic again no matter what they say. As a matter of fact I don't use it in my cars either. I just change my oil every 3,000 miles with Pennzoil or Castrol and use factory filters.
