A friend of mine has a new 2001 Magnum 500. Only a couple of months old and is having that creeping problem. He talked to his dealer and they told him a new belt would fix the problem which he had to buy. Well that didnt work so he called the dealer again and they said they will align the clutch but its not covered by warrenty.?? This is a machine that is driven by his wife and has only about 500 miles on it. Is this going to be a constant maintenance issue? What is a good number to contact Polaris?

Thanks for help. very frustrating.

Shim the driven clutch. It is a 30 minute fix. Pull the PVT cover, Look at the belt deflection. Is the belt rubbing the inside or the outside of the drive clutch? Do this in neutral with the engine running. After seeing this you will need to remove a shim or add 1 or 2 to the driven clutch.

To do this remove the driven clutch. Add the washers behind the clutch and then put driven clutch back on and check alignment. This will require a test ride for true belt alignment. You want the belt to ride in the middle and NOT touch the drive clutch sheaves while engine is at idle.

The dealer has the washers in stock for this fix. Off hand I don't know what the part #'s is.

If you need more help email me. This is a really easy fix. The dealer will charge you a 100 dollars for this fix. You can do it yourself for 4 dollars in parts.

Thanks, But he is an old guy and needs the dealer to do this. Why is this not covered under warrenty? Is this something that will have to keep being done?

Thanks
