Paintball gun mounted to ATV?
#1
Has anyone ever mounted a paintball gun to their handlebars that they could shoot while riding? Paintball is awesome on quads (better on clutch free quads), but usually you have to have two people riding on a quad. One driver, one gunner.
Has anyone done this modification or have any suggestions?

It does sound like alot of fun,,,,, but me thinks its one of those idea best left to imagination. I guarantee once someone gets seriosly hurt, and they will, that there wont be a great deal of sympathy from anyone when they hear how the accident came about .

If I was going to play PB on a Quad, I think I would try to get one of these:

I think those of you who responded with fears of lawsuits must never have any fun on a quad. Can you seriously tell me that shooting a paintball gun while on a autoclutch quad is more dangerous than doing 10, 20, 30+ foot jumps with a quad, or a nasty rocky hillclimb. Gimme a break!
Riding quads is all about thrills. Most good/brave riders will try something different in order to improve their riding expertise. Our sport requires no more skill than riding through the woods and being able to snag a leaf off a tree while riding.
With an autoclutch quad, you can steer, brake, and accelerate without using your left hand. I have no problem controlling and steering a Recon, Timberwolf or even my Bomb with just one arm.
When we play this hybrid sport, we're not flying through tight woods at 40 mph. We're in an open field with some trees, hills and natural barriers. If there is anyone that actually wants to have some cool fun, they should try this out.

DSONYX99,
I think your idea sounds good but I have a feeling it just depends on where you live as to whether or not it could be done. Here in Southern California, if I ride my ATV in front of the house, the cops will likely show up in 30-60 minutes. (The call goes out fast - the cops are just slow.) Even taking the ATVs to a 'legal' riding area (mind you, we don't just go where ever, we have to drive generally 30-ish minutes and up toa designated area so we can ride) I think the park rangers would take issue. I've gotta say I wish I lived in an area with a little less freakishness about things as fun as this sport, but I'm doubtful that California, and many other area will ever become that accepting. Unfortunatly, they seem to be doing just the opposite.
As far as more dangerous, 30 foot jumps vs. paintballing while on ATVs - there is a better chance of a more severe injury from jumping, but you wont find many rookies trying to pull this off. However, I could picture someone relatively new to ATVing (I'm in no way saying you or any of your friends are rookies) jumping on an ATV trying to shoot someone and falling off due to lack of control.
What you might look into for mounting a paint gun, see if a RAM mount with a U-Bolt Mount at each end will work. I don't have the link to their website, but do a search in the forums for their name and you'll find it in posts relating to GPS mounts for ATVs.
