I was riding fri. and I pulled in the clutch lever and heard a loud pop. I thought my cable broke because the clutch lever had no resistance to it. Well the cables not broke. I can see the lever at the case moving when I pull on the lever but it has no resistance to it and the clutch will not engage. Has anyone ever experinced this problem or can anyone tell me what they think is going on? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

I haven't had this before, but I know that internal components like the back of my hand. The lever that you see moving is part of a rod the runs down and engages the clutch by a cut out in thee rod. You may have snapped this rod or the tip of the steel dowel that this engages. Drain the oil from the tranny and the tank then pull this right side cover off (about 12 bolts - 8mm socket and 2 oil lines). You will find the problem as soon as you pull this cover.

Invest in a service manual for the 400, it will pay for itself a hundred times over.
