Well, I managed to install the winch. Suggestions from ufg95 and Jerry were very helpful. The Warn manual was not. I put the remote socket on the opposite side of the accessory outlet. I found what I think is a nice spot for the solenoid: on the side of the left top frame rail a few inches in front of the battery (just in front of the rear fender and behind the side panel just behind where another frame member attaches to the bottom of the rail). It was difficult to drill the rear mounting hole because the fender was in the way. I used a flexible drill shaft. I had to get longer bolts than those supplied with the kit. This is a pretty protected location, much better than behind the battery in the rear fender well where Polaris puts it.

Warn's winch and winch mount are nicely made. The fasteners are not: they are cheap zinc plated hardware store hex head bolts. The remote socket should be attached with black pan head screws, and so should the handlebar bracket. I also wish Warn would supply separate removeable wire terminals on one end of their cables so they could be cut to length. I have a lot of coiled up extra cable.

I purchased a 7000 lb rated yellow nylon tow strap from Aubachon Hardware for about $13. Where can I get a cheap ****** block?
