My buddy lives in Mexico. He asked me to bring a battery down for his Honda 300ex. Unfortunatley, I don't know the year.

If I remember correctly, the 300ex battery is located under the seat. To accomodate this location, the battery is short in height, but long in length. Also, I think it was a sealed battery???

Can anyone provide me with the part or model number and brand name for an aftermarket battery that will fit under the seat on a 300ex? Where is it availabe (Wal-Mart, Kruegers, Checker, Pep Boys, K-mart, etc.)?

I hate to go to the dealer to get the Honda brand due to the price.

Any help?

Most part stores will know what it takes just by telling them it is a 300 ex.I think the same battery fits all years.Good luck.

No man the 300ex batterey is on the right side above the rear tire. year shouldn't matter. Both sealed and maintenence batteries will work. Its not really that long.

Would somebody who has a 300ex take measurements of their battery and post them?

Please be sure to include where the terminals are.

I will go down to Pep Boys or Wal-Mart and get and aftermarket battery with those dimensions.

Thanks,

Theres no reason to go to pep boys. Go to your local dealer. I got mine for $35 and it was made for the ex.

Yuasa battery Part Number: YTX9-BS Should fit all years.

You'll find that the local auto parts store will be cheaper than the stealer, I mean dealer...

Just remember that you get what you paid for when it comes to purchasing a battery.

Yuasa YTX9-BS. Nothing less. And you wont find THAT battery for $35.
Prices will range from $50 to $90 depending on the dealer.

That Exide and Murray special battery won't last 6 months unless you ride the bike every weekend, and you can still bet on replacing it in the cold months regardless of use.

A Yuasa battery PROPERLY serviced from your dealer should be good from 1 to 5 years. Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki, and Yamaha don't put Yuasa' in their units from the factory because they are expensive to replace. They put them there because they are the #1 small battery maker in the world for sales and quality.
