Just wondering how to tell if I have my clutch adjusted correctly? I installed a new clutch lever this past weekend and basically set the clutch engagement about a 1/2" off the bar. I was playing around with starting the quad tonight with it in gear and it jumps forward until it fires, it has done this since new. I played around with the adjustment but couldn't do anything to keep it from moving forward when cranking it over? I also noticed, when the quad is in gear and not started, that I can not move the quad even with the clutch lever pulled. Finally I took it for a ride and everything seemed fine. I parked it and shut the engine off, then I pulled the clutch lever and could move the quad with it in gear this time? As the quad started to cool down I could no longer move it even with the clutch lever pulled. Have I smoked my clutch or is there something that I am overlooking in the adjustment?

What you're experiencing is perfectly normal. Any bike with a wet clutch does that. The clutch will not completely disengage until the clutch plates get warm.

Thanks, is there any thoughts on where the engagement point should be? Thanks!

I'm sure it's in my shop manual, but I'm at work right now. I'll try to get it for you later.
