I find it does quite well. Not as much clearance as most 4x4 quads due to the shorter tires, but makes up for it with big tire speed, lighter weight, and longer suspension travel.

It's pretty good with mudding, DaveB is right about everything he said I just thought I would add though that when I added bigger tires for mudding on my 400 it took a lot of power away, and in fact I needed speed before I hit any mud hole just to get out of it. I then put those tires on the 500 I got and put the new stock ones on the 400 and I liked it way better once again.

I haven't been able to get mine stuck yet. That's why I got a Scrambler, I like a sporty ride but I hate to get stuck. If you have enough wheel speed you can get through most muck.

I used to be a videographer for a mud & truck racing circuit back in the 80's. Watching all those mud racers taught me that wheel speed is the key to making it through mud.

I've got the mud guards for mine, keeps you a lot cleaner. I also have
my Tecate for drier weather, but's it's a pretty good mudder too...
