Hey guys....

My question is what is the best tire size for motocross and jumping? I know size can make a difference in terms of traction on some of these tracks- and also can size effect the dynamics of a jump? Is there a gyroscope effect (other than throttle/break)? Could a larger tire make a softer landing?

I've been running the ITP Holeshot XCT 22"x11"x10" on Red lable douglas rims- mostly because I did alot of trail riding in the mountains- and they gave me maximum ground clearance- however, I feel like they are too bulky for a motocross track & jumps (which I do more now). <<I could be wrong>>

Anyway- what are your thoughts on this?

If anyone is interested in buying my XCT tires/rims- they are on ebay and will end in an hour... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cg...URL=0&rd=1

Thanks for your thoughts and feedback!

Brian

22's are WAY to big for MX. Most MXers run 18" tamers, or Holeshot MX's, but you must either have an 8", or 10" wheel. 18's are the way to go. 20's will drag you down, and not slide as well. 18's are light, they gear you down some, and you can slide them anywhere.

I get away with 20" Shredders for MX. 18" just seems too small in my opinion, although I haven't actually tried a set.

I have a set of 22" tires too, but it did not even occur to me to try them for MX racing. They grip too well, and cause the quad to highside corners more often. The smaller tire helps cornering- A LOT. As far as jumping, I think the larger tire is actually better, because it adds extra buffer to the suspension. If you have good suspension, you won't be relying on the tires to buffer your landings anyway.
