I just bought a '98 banshee and am considering putting slime in the tires to prevent flats. It is stock now, but soon will have FMF exhaust and jetted. Is the slime a good or bad idea? Has anyone noticed vibration at high speeds with slime?

DRedd,
I have it in all my Atv's, dirtbikes and one car. I have been saved a few times.

How would I know if I've been saved . I never have small hole flats when running slime....

( a winch and slime are just part of running solo. )

edit added: the slime does cause occasional unbalance and vibration from 40 mph and up, but usually it must slime into a concentric puddle around the tire at speed for me, cause it'll run smooth at times too.

One six inch thin spike and a roofing nail that I pulled from the tires is how I know I was saved.
If the slime is doing its job you will not know you have been saved until you get back and see the mysterious wet spot on the tire.

I run it too. Do not believe it if anyone states that it gums up your tires and makes it harder when you change tires etc. I've had slime in my tires for at least six months. You can wipe it right off the rim when it is time. I've also washed it off with a garden hose. It is not like fix-a-flat. In fact, I've scooped it out of one tire and put it into another when changing to new tires. It works great to lube the tire before putting them back on.

Also, I have not experienced my tires being out of balance with it. I've run my quad wide open many times and never felt any bad vibrations - I do not run high speeds on dry pavement though. In fact, I won't race at all on pavement since it is really hard on the tranny when hitting 2nd gear. Many Yamaha street bikes loose 2nd gear too - it isn't just the Raptor.
