I'm in the process of putting my pipe on and rejetting my TBlazer and seen that in the instuctions it said to use at least 92 octane gas and was wondering if i could use higher octane than that and if i do use higher than that will i benefit from it or am i just wasting money ??
If i do use a (race gas) will i be doing damage to my motor down the road ?? what are the down sides to using higher octane ??

you need a highcompression piston and/or new head to run anything over 86 octane

On Spanky's 250 aircooled polaris 92 and up fuel is a wise idea . The design of the head and aircooling mixed together make the engine prone to pinging especially with an aftermarket pipe .

An aftermarket pipe will raise compression in an engine due to the pulses being timed perfectly with an engines strokes . This will not be noted with a compression guage but at operating RPM's it happens .

In a nutshell , follow the instructions .

Higher octane won't hurt a bit . I have never found a octane booster that has really been effective, (If you have one send me some ) 91 or 92 octane will be fine , if you would ever need more , start mixing race fuel in with pump gas , that is the only thing I have ever seen work well .

I realize there are issues with specific gravities on race fuels when combined with pump gas but I have been successful combining the two like so many others .

Also remember that having more octane then required to stop pinging or knocking will start to degrade performance in some cases.
