Hey yall, I've been looking for a project car for me and my dad to totally build. I mean i want this thing to haul a$$ when it's done. I can't decide though if i want to go with a four cylinder, like a supra or prelude, and completely build it(like on fast and the furious), or go with like a cobra, and completely build the motor. So i'm need some forums for both if yall know any, so i can find out a little more info and what all would be involved, racing etc. Thanks, and any sites would be appreciated.

This is the best forum I have seen Team Focaljet Forum ,It is for the Ford Focus and Focus SVT. They have lots of information about mods, racing, etc. Someone there could most likely refer you to any other forum you needed, plus they have tons of excellent information. I have a 2001 Focus which I have started to build up, I also race it in SCCA events.

I would recommend finding an old charger, GTO, or someother american muscle car. If you went w/ a supra, your looking at around 20,000 for a decent one, and you'd want one from late 90's and if its super charged then watch out cause they have a tendency to go out after 60,000 or so miles give or take. American muscle is the way to go imo.

HondaMan:

Toyota Supras have always been inline 6 cylinders.
Late models 93'+ were available with TWIN turbos, not supercharger<s>.
I doubt you are going to dish out the 20K+ for a used 93'TT supra, but if you did, they are amazing. They are very reliable, and the turbos will generally last 100K miles before requiring rebuilds. The latest TT Supras are extremely fast, and handle with the best of the best. (Ive had the pleasure of racing in a TT Supra pace car, a Acura NSX, A BMW Z3 Coupe, M edition, and a Supercharged BMW M3, all around Willow Springs in California)
The Supra's thrust blew me away.

But, more realistically, Ive ridden plenty of times in my buddies built 69' Chevelle.
Its a rocket. Its putting out around 475HP at the crank. Its ran a best 1/4 mile in the low-mid 12's. Thats 0-60 in 3 1/2 - 4 seconds. Very quick.

I would recommend building an American musclecar like the Chevelle, Chevy 2(Nova), ect.
Not expensive compaired to the high tech forced induction (turbo) import route.
With American muscle, you will not have handling though. It dosnt sound like your too interested in that. Go for an American muclecar.

The FocalJet forum is a good forum. I'm part of www.protegeclub.com The Protege's aren't exactly the fastest things off the showroom floor, but most people don't realize that they can be modified like any other car to do what you want them to. Even if you don't like the car, the people there are good and always willing to help. People from a lot of forums come there from the honda forums, and I've seen a few from focaljet. Good luck with your project.
