While some dealers are so under-staffed this is a regular problem, almost every dealer has one point of the year where everything is backed up and work does end up being delayed for two to three weeks.
One thing that causes this is that at different times of the year, the mechanics will have training seminars throughout the country. This can be even more complicated when your dealer sells more than one brand. They spend about a month of the year going to these training schools. Believe me, when the entire shop is gone for just three days, your shop will be backed up two weeks very quickly.
It pretty much comes down to whether or not the wait is worth the extra skill that will be working on your four wheeler. Do you want a trained mechanic working on it or a shade tree mechanic who THINKS he is??
Now if your dealer isn't backed up and is just giving you the runaround, then I would find another dealer.
Customer loyalty also plays a big part in scheduling repairs. Did you purchase your fourwheeler from this dealer? Any machine that was purchased from another dealer for warranty work will always be put at the bottom of the list for repair. However cash customers don't fall within this criteria. [Unless you have a REALLY stubborn dealer]
