can anybody tell me why i cannot find a selection of tires to choose from for my 2000 rancher es. there seems to be only 1 or 2 tires of oem size 24-8-12(rear) and 24-9-11(front). looking for something more aggresive than the 489;s

I am with you there Realtree. I have an 01 ES and I am going to get some 25" 589's. I wish I could find something in that tread type in 24's but It isnt going to happen. From what I hear you will not even feel any loss in power with the 25's. Good luck.

how much affect does 25,s have on center of gravity?
I do alot of rock climbing and would rather have the lower center of gravity for stability seems more important than clearance.

Goodyear Mudrunners come in stock rancher sizes and also I believe Beartrackers do also. I have The mudrunners on mine but went to 12in rims as I had Them available.

You are right, there are not many options in 24 inch tires for your rim sizes. If you move up to a 25 inch tall tire I think you will find several more choices. Adding an inch to the diameter of the tire only nets you 1/2 inch higher center of gravity but also 1/2inch of ground clearance. Probably a fair trade off. The other choice you have is to mix tread patterns for front and rear. As long as you keep the diameter (or circumference) of the tires the same it will work fine.

When I get sick of the stock rubber I'm planning on 25" mudrunners for my rancher. From what I hear they are really more like 24 1/2's anyhow. I don't have any paticular beef with the stock rubber on the rancher, they've done okay for the 1600 miles I've put on it, curiously it's never gotten stuck in real world conditions, but it got hung on a mud hole at fingure lakes mainly from high centering.
