Im going to trade in a 2001 4x4 Rancher for a 400ex this week. The Rancher only has approx 6 hours on it and is in showroom condition tuesday is the earliest I can get out there to trade, but what amount should I expect on a trade in.

 

I'm guessing they will probably will prollly give you anywhere from about 2500 to 3000 for it, Kelly Blue Book says 2800, but that is in excellent condition.

 

Holy shmoly that's an expensive six hours of riding. Rule of thumb, but vehicles to use them, the trade in circut really isn't worth playing when both ATV's and cars are decent pieces of gear at this point. ( I'll happily add another 120K more miles too my 83K car before replacing, it's needed tie rod ends so far. Not a suprize considering this car get 80 miles of gravel road use a week. )

 

You should take it there and see how much they will give you, if they try and jew you and give you a ridiculous price just sell it yourself and use that $$ to buy a 400EX. That way you'll have to pay less for the 400.

WE GENERALLY GET $3,000 TO $3,500 FOR ANYWHERE FROM 93 TO 96 MODELS ,AS FOR WHAT WE PAY THE CUSTOMER ON TRADE ,THAT DEPENDS ON MANY VARIABLES BUT WE GENERALLY MAKE ANY WHERE FROM $300 YO $500 BUT KEEP IN MIND CONDITION AND UP KEEP ARE BIG FACTORS. AS YOURS IS A '01' 4X4 I WOULD SURE THINK YOU SHOULD GET $4,000 OR DAMN CLOSE ,BUT YOU WOULD COME OUT BETTER SELLING OUTRIGHT . HOPE THIS HELPS

 

Thanks that was what I was hoping to hear I thiught 3700 sounded about right.

 

$3500 at the most is what you should expect from a dealer unless the dealer already has a customer in line waiting to buy one used. Then it just depends on what his customer is going to pay.
You are much better off selling it to the public used than trading it in. That goes for ANY quad.
