I'm looking for more low end and am looking for opinions on a full system,slip-on or modified end cap. With only five "legal" places to ride plus a couple MX tracks, noise is a huge factor when poaching trails. Not looking for attention from the wrong people... It looks like a modified end cap may be the way for me to go from what I've read in past threads, and that a quiet core insert or quiet cap on an aftermarket pipe takes away any gains that you get. Thoughts?

BTW - been watching and reading for a few weeks (just got the DS in early Jan.) and the quality of info and helpfulness of the member is outstanding! Already put lots of information to good use. Thanks.

I think that anything you do to the exhaust is going to increase the noise level and also the power level.

If I were worried about noise, I would first try dialing in the jetting and needle settings. I beleive you could possibly find the low end with jetting and needle tuning. I have the dynojet kit and really like it.

Those are my thoughts, but maybe others can help.

Any exhaust flow will help your all around power. I make Modded endcaps that work well, but If I was to guess I would say that they are around 100 decibels. I know Knutz is working On a Modded endcap with a Spark Arrester, but I know its going to be a challenge to get the decibels down and keep the horsepower up. But the good news is that he has the resorces and equipment to accomplish it.

The best thing would be to leave it alone! Anything will make it loud. The end caps and the systems work because the improve flow therefore increasing sound. If you need a little more pep then you should go down to a 15t front sprocket with a new cdi box without a rev limiter. The bike will accelerate faster and rev longer. If sound was an issue for me then I would not touch it.

I just put the new jets in and will be riding this weekend to check it out. I was planning on the cdi and a tach in the near future and already have a 15T on order. I guess I'll leave the exhaust alone for now and see what happens. Thanks.
