The truth about Polaris prices
#1
I'm in the market for a new quad, and right now I'm looking at yellow HO's, BUT!! So far the only dealer that is willing to do any dealing said that to get the free warn winch, I have to pay msrp. Or I can take the cash back option and put it towards the price of the quad. Which at this point the lowest he will go is $6700, minus the $315 gets me to $6388 plus no set up or freight and thats the best deal I've found within a 200 mile, one way trip!! I know that alot of people on here has gotten some really good deals, but is that true about the winch? I'm going to hand the dealer cash, and that doesn't seem to matter at all. (If anything it hurts!) I know that the dealer needs to make money when selling a quad, but I don't see the need in paying a weeks worth of salaries for a dealer, just to buy from them. I mentioned to him that some people were getting better deals than that and he said that those dealers had to be selling below cost. I find this very hard to believe. The whole kicker to all of this is my bose has spoke with Polaris about the dealers in this area, and told them that most will charge 200 to 300 more than msrp then add on freight and dealer prep, then tax you for it all, and they said that the finial prices were determand by the dealers and there was nothing they could do. It's not just the polaris dealers that do this, its all of them. I guess I'm just venting now, but is there any truth to this? Thanks!!

I am in Nebraska, and the ads from our 'good' dealer (the one with the best service around) is about $6300. The 'lowball' dealer is I THINK $5999. The lower priced dealer has poor service, however, and very high shop rates. This is cash & carry, with the winch rebate taken off the price of the quad.

That is a huge bunch of crap. The dealer gets the winches for free. A lot of people are having this problem. Most are taking it up with the better business bureau and their local attorney generals office. DO NOT LET THIS GO. It is not legal what Polaris and it's dealers are doing!!!

As fast
Check out this dealer in Northwest Ohio:
Honda East
They are usually pretty reasonable on price and is the dealer that carjockey is talking about. Call them and see what they will do for you. It would take you about 4 hours to get here from where you live, but may be worth the trip. They are generally pretty staight forward on pricing. There service and parts dept leave something to be desired, but that shouldn't affect you.

We sell ours for around $6500.00. As far as the winch I'm not sure what promo is going on at this time.
SilverV10,
We do not get the winches for free! However we do not have to pay normal dealer pricing either, it is usually $69.00. Same with the free goods money, the dealer has to pick up some of that (usually the difference between dealer cost and retail). Before I started here I thought the same way but since I have been the parts manager I have recieved an eye opener.

Ok, so you pay $69. but offer $250 off the machine instead as an option. How can you afford the difference? Seems as though you would much rather push the winches instead of the discount, but that isn't usually the case. Doesn't make sense.

I see you have an '01 sp500 HO. how do you like it? I'm looking a a used '01 sp500 HO and wonder about the reliability. I'm not a mudder or hill climber. Mainly hunting and such. Your input on your machine, ie, belt wear, seal leakage, etc.
